Planning
We spend a lot of time discussing planning here at CCHQ. There is a lot of misunderstanding about what is and isn’t possible / allowed with regards to mobile structures. Over the last ten years we have built up a good knowledge base relevant to our work. We can give you a good idea whether full planning permission would be required, and if so, we can submit the relevant application on your behalf.

Points to consider
- Mobile structures themselves do not require the planning. It is the land you would be siting it on, what use that land has currently and what you will be using it for that are the key factors.
- Having wheels DOES NOT mean something would not require planning permission, despite what Kevin McCloud and George Clarke have told you…
- A mobile structure can be up to 20m (66ft) long and 6.7m (22ft) wide and 3.04m (10ft) high.

- A structure up to the above size can often be placed in your garden for use as a granny annexe or spare room without the need for a full planning application. This would not be suitable for holiday accommodation.
- It’s always advisable to speak to your local authority.
